A Hunter Pace is designed to match the excitement of the fox hunt! Teams of 2 or 3 go out cross country jumping obstacles, trying to finish as close to the secret optimum time as possible.

The optimum time is determined by having several horses complete the course at an even hunting pace. The optimum time is not the fastest time!

DIVISIONS

LEADLINE — Parents may lead horse and rider through the course.
Starting at approximately 10 am.

BEGINNER (18" and under) — Jumps are optional.
A relaxed and leisurely stroll through the field and through a trail. Mostly trot, with some walk. Starting at approximately 11 am.

INTERMEDIATE (not to exceed 2'3") — Jumps are optional.
A faster-paced ride through the fields and through a trail. Trot and canter. Starting at approximately 10 am.

ADVANCED (not to exceed 2'11") — Jumps are optional.
A longer, fast-paced ride through the field and through a longer trail. Canter and trot. Starting at 9 am.
 

WAYS TO ENTER

Please include payment and current copy of negative coggins.
  1. Mail entries: Entries and payment must be received by the closing date. Mail to:

  2. Hand in entries: Leave your entry form and payment at EHC in the Hunter Pace folder at the pinboard in the office.
 

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Entry Fees — $25 per course.
    EHC Horse Use — $30.
  • Advanced division begins at 9am, Intermediate at approximately 10 am, and Beginner at approximately 11 am. Leadline will begin at approximately 10 am.
  • Teams may consist of 2-4 riders.
  • Proper attire is not required. Helmets must be worn at all times when mounted. Safety vests are encouraged, but not required.
  • There are jumps set up for warming up in the outdoor arena.
  • Riders may walk the course on foot prior to the Hunter Pace. The course will be set up by Saturday afternoon. All course walkers must be off the field by 8:30 am on Sunday. Schooling on the course is not allowed before the competition.
  • If it RAINS, call the barn Saturday to see if canceled. 410-721-0885.
  • Entries for June 8 Hunter Pace are due by Friday, June 6.
  • Entries for August 24 Hunter Pace are due by Friday, August 22.
